Behaviour:
It can kill very large prey but will hunt smaller ones also.

Habitat:
This bird lives in eastern Canada especially in mountain forests.

Feeding:
This bird feeds on rabbits, squirrels and prairie dogs. In Hope Town, it eats small birds and snakes.

Protection:
La population est déclinante à l’ouest, mais inclinante à l’est.

Hiver:
The population is declining to the west, but inclining to the east.

Migration:
Some golden eagles live in their nesting territory all year. Others may migrate due to lack of food during the winter. They do not have to migrate large distances, because of their excellent hunting abilities.

Description:
They have a sharp bill with claws that can easily catch their prey.

Colour:
Adults are brown with gold on the back of the head and neck.

Breeding:
Golden eagles mate at about four years of age, and often stay paired with the same mate for life.

Nests:
They prefer to nest on rocky or flat cliff faces.

Number of eggs::
1-4, white

Babies:
The young eaglets stay in the nest for nine to eleven weeks before they can fly.
